What is therapy?
What happens in the initial session
When it works it’s like a magical soul alchemy that helps you see things differently that gives you a deeper connection to yourself and the world around you. Its a combination of knowing yourself better, being more aware of what 'triggers' you and having more resources to ground yourself and face your difficulties. .
The first session is an important opportunity for us to see how we connect. I often say that trust can take time to grow but It is crucial for you to feel safe working with me. Without that sense of safety and trust healing won’t happen. Usually in the initial session we will make a contract together about why you are here, what’s happening and what your hopes for the future are.
Who I work with
I work with adults and secondary school children aged aged 15 and over. I have worked with young people for many years and have led a school counselling service since 2015. In my role I receive regular safeguarding training from Oxfordshire county council and have a DBS certificate.
Why Creative Therapy?
All therapy is in a sense creative. It is re-writing past experiences, painting a new picture of onself, exploring who we are and who we want to become. Using our instincts to guide us closer to our own truth and flow. We all know deeply who we are and what we need. If only we take the time to truly listen.
How long will it take?
How long is a piece of string?
Sometimes all you need is one or two sessions sometimes it’s long-term work. The important thing is that it feels useful and like things are shifting. We will regularly review the work together. I aim for you to feel independent and able to cope as quickly as possible, but sometimes the deep re-wiring and healing really happens in longer-term regular work.
How long do sessions last?
The therapist’s hour – 50 minutes.
What is the Cost?
Sessions are currently on-line and are
£60 per hour
I offer a limited number of low cost sessions to adults on low income.
I have spaces on Monday nights and Tuesady mornings with some flexibility.
Cancellation Policy?
I have a 48 hour cancellation policy. If you don't cancel within that time you will be eligible to pay £25.
If for any reason I have to cancel I will try and offer an alternate session if we can find a suitable alternative.
